How to use it well

Work backwards from the mark.

The most common misuse of a calculator like this one is entering a diluent volume first and accepting whatever number falls out. Decide the dose, then try diluent volumes until the barrel figure lands somewhere between roughly 5 and 40 units, a range a syringe can actually resolve.

Does the dose count make sense?

If a vial you expected to last a month yields three doses, or three hundred, a decimal has moved. This is the fastest catch available and it takes one second.

Is the mark readable?

A 1 mL barrel is graduated every 2 units. Anything landing at 2.5 or 7.5 is being estimated rather than measured. Change the diluent volume until it is not.

Did you verify the barrel?

The calibration is printed on the syringe. U-40 barrels exist and look almost identical. Confirm it once per box, not once per lifetime.

This tool performs arithmetic on numbers you supply. It does not know what compound you are holding, whether the label is accurate, whether the dose is appropriate, or whether you should be doing any of this. It cannot check your inputs and it does not validate anything about the vial. A correct calculation on a wrong premise is still wrong.
